Bulletin
Week of September 10–
14, 2018
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! It was such a great first week of the school
year. I hope you completed the first
week of the 2018-2019 school year feeling great about where you will go this year. I want to thank everyone for being such a great
host to Ed Gerety during his visit to MHS last week. You were so engaged in his powerful
presentation in making every moment count.
It is important in life to
believe in yourself, and I hope MHS will be the place that strength that
resolve to always follow your dreams and become the person you are destined to
be. I am so proud to be your
principal! It is because of each of you
that we are SachemSTRONG! I hope each of
you are settling into your classes and keeping pace with the work. Remember, failure is not an option, and I
expect that you try your very best each and every day and always remember to FinishSTRONG! Remember as we begin this week. Here are a few things for the week ahead:
1. Sachem Shout-Out’s:

To
all of our sports teams for an awesome start to the fall season! Keep the wins coming! Good stuff.

To
the MHS Band for the wonderful opening to the school year. You made the rally great! Thank you.
·
To
the Concert Choir for helping opening our rally on Friday with the sound of
your beautiful voices with the signing of the National Anthem.
·
To
the many student leaders who engaged with Ed Gerety in your leadership
workshop…I look forward to seeing all that you accomplish this year.
·
To
the Student Council for an outstanding job of decorating our school for the opening
week. Great work!
2. Welcome Back BBQ and Tailgate – Friday, September 14,
2018
·
Just
a reminder that the Welcome Back BBQ and Tailgate will be held on the
basketball courts at Battis Field on Friday, September 14, 2018 beginning at
5:00pm. Come and get ready for a great night of Football. This BBQ and Tailgate is free and open to MHS
Students ONLY.
3. Student Council Update:
·
Nomination
papers for Representatives to the Student Council are now available from my
office. All completed forms are back to
my office no later than Friday, September 21 for all four classes.
4. Class
of 2022 - Class Elections and Student Council
·
Just
a reminder to all freshmen that are interested in running for class
officers…your nomination papers are due to my office no later than 2:00pm on
Monday, September 10, 2018. Elections
speeches will take place on Friday, September 14! Let the campaigning begin!
·
IMPORTANT
CORRECTION: All members of the Class of
2022 that are interested and planning on joining Student Council this year please
attend the Student Council Kick-Off for Grade 9 on Wednesday, September 26 from 7:00 – 8:15pm in the MHS Cafeteria! THIS EVENT IS NOT BEING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 13TH
AS NOTED ON THE NOMINATION PAPER. THIS
WAS AN ERROR. You do not want to
miss out on learning how to become a leader with the MHS Student Council!

All
representative nomination papers are due back to Mr. Branagan NO LATER than
Friday, September 21, 2018 by 2:00pm.
5. Fall Open House -
September 11, 2018 – 6:30pm
·
The
MHS Fall Open House will take place on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 6:30 –
8:00pm. The official welcome will begin
at 6:30pm in the MHS Auditorium. We look
forward to seeing many families at the high school to celebrate the opening of
another school year! See you there!
6. Speech and Theater Workshop Fall Show Auditions
·
Speech
and Theater Workshop will be holding auditions for the Fall Play, “Our Town” on
Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 2:00 -4:00pm in the Auditorium. Please see Mrs. Duggan with any questions.
7. Best
Buddy First Meeting – Wednesday, September 19
·
The
first meeting of the Best Buddies Program will take place on Wednesday,
September 19, 2018 at 2:00pm in the MHS Library. Please see Sydney Jutras or Ms. Adelman for
more information.
8. Advanced
Placement Kick Off Rally – September 14, 2018
·
MHS
will kick off another year of excellence with the annual Advanced Placement
Kick Off Rally, which will be held in the MHS Auditorium on Friday, September
14, 2018 at 9:00am.
·
Invitations
will be distributed to all AP Students early this week. We look forward to this annual
celebration.
9. Horatio Alger
Association of Distinguished Americans ~ Scholarship Opportunity
·
Please

Senior Trip to Florida – April 2019

Just
a reminder that the Senior Class Trip to Florida is happening and you do not
want to miss it. Deposits (if not
already paid) of $100.00 is due to Mr. Branagan no later than Friday, September
28, 2018.

regarding the trip is located in the main office and from Mr. Branagan.
12. Class of 2019 –
YEARBOOK INFORMATION AND SENIOR PICTURES
·
Seniors,
please make sure you are checking your email for the information regarding
senior pictures and senior photos. Everything will be done electronically,
including the senior favorites and the senior superlatives.
·
The
deadline for submitting your senior portrait and your baby picture is October
29, 2018.
·
Yearbooks
will be available for online orders shortly, so please look out for a flyer
from Jostens, which will be mailed home soon. This will contain online ordering
information, in addition to the tiered pricing. The earlier your order your
yearbook, the less expensive it will be.
·
